This machine comes with 4 GB of memory (DDR3-1066), a large 320 GB hard drive, and a DVD optical drive. An interesting thing the N61JQ-X1 features is the ability to turn on Turbo Mode. When activated this mode boosts processor speed from 1.6 GHz to 2.8 GHz (and uses 4 processor cores). This clocks boost gives the extra edge for intense gaming, multitasking, or if your just look for extra speed. Other nice features here on the ultra high speed USB ports (3.0), an 8 in 1 card reader, and onboard bluetooth. The operating system is Windows 7 Home Premium and the Battery life runs 2-4 hours depending on settings and use of Turbo mode. The N61JQ-X1 is currently for sale at Newegg for about $1,050.

Positives: The N61JQ-X1 has a fast CPU and high end Video Card runs most of today's games at high settings. Users have said it runs Bioshock 2, Mass Effect and GTA 4 "like butter." That's extra nice! It can also run the most demanding ultra high end games (like Battlefield Bad COmpany 2 & Crysis Warhead) at medium settings. Users says the 320GBb runs pretty fast because of it's high 7200rpm speed and 16MB of onboard cache. It runs photo and web programs without any problems. It's minimal and stylish and have great build quality.
Negatives: Of course this intense gaming power comes at the cost of battery life. You're only going to get about 2 hours when the machine is on the Turbo (2.8GHz) mode. You'll also have to remove some the preinstalled software (bloatware) it comes with to speed everything on up. The only other major negative that it can get fairly hot (80 degrees Celsius) while doing high end games. You can fix that issue by dropping down on the graphics settings of by using a different cooling. Some users complain that the sound quality is poor while others are thrilled with it. Go figure. It's a laptop. Why would you be using the speakers? UYse headphones.
This laptop is great for the gamer who wants a larger 16 LCD screen. As of April 2010 the N61JQ-X1 is the top laptop on Newegg.
