Vacuum use is excellent for carpet, but it is best used with a HEPA filter. Hardwood floors can be handled by use of a vacuum sweeper. For harder stuff a mop and floor polisher will give a deeper cleaning experience, as well as add shine. Cleaning a small amount of garbage from hardwood floors is easy with a dustpan and whisk broom.

Medical buildings and places that deal with food preparation need to disinfect areas and bleach is an effective way to sanitize. They clean most surfaces, including floors. When used in hospitals and restaurants, sections that are often touched all day by different people can be cleaned with a bleach solution. It also works to disinfect garbage cans.

Create a checklist as each room is evaluated. It is amazing to see just how similar and how different products are depending upon the room in which they will be used. As changes are made and janitorial supplies become more advanced, one should be ready to adapt.
