Toronto, Canada - GAO Tek Inc. (www.GAOTek.com) is offering its handheld gigabit Ethernet tester for 10M/100M/1000M Ethernet installation and maintenance. This tester conducts network testing, data packet capture, traffic generation, cable testing, network layer 1/2/3 BER testing and RFC2544 benchmark testing. It assists the front-line field worker in analyzing network quality and in rapid fault location.

This handheld gigabit Ethernet tester, model 5850, features a power outage function and auto power save function and provides test tools including port positioning, packet capture and loopback. It is compliant with IEEE802.3, RFC1242 and RFC2544 standards. The tester has a cable VCT which is capable of identifying short circuits, open circuits and cable length. It offers dual electrical ports and optical ports and has a large memory for the storage of settings and results. The tester has single and multi stations traffic generator and supports traffic filtration statistic at the receiver end. Equipped with a 4.3in LCD color touch screen and smart navigation menus, this tester shows all test results graphically and numerically. This tester can be upgraded on-line and is able to connect with a computer via an external USB port or an Ethernet port for data exchange. In addition, the tester runs under Windows 2000/XP operating systems.
