IBM SLR-60 drive is backward read compatible with SLR-5 tape cartridges. The drive can reliably perform read and write operations on IBM 75 GB SLR-60 tapes as well. For greater backup performance, the transfer rate of IBM SLR-60 tape drive has been increased to 8 MB/s compressed or 4 MB/s native. Data is compressed by SLR drives at 2:1.
