Hip Hop Connection: Your connection to the past.

In these days and times many of the people who grew up with the hip hop lifestyle and rap music from the very beginning are very dissatisfied with the way the music genre has gone down. There is a thinking that many of the new guys coming out have no love for the art itself. That most of them do not have any MC skill level, creativity or that the music they produce are garbage.

This is a far cry from what the music in the past was like. Even though the genre was still in its infancy those who were a part of it took the music very seriously. From the east to west and the rest of the world over there was a set standard on how good you had to be just to get something heard, let alone just to get some respect.

Now, in all fairness the past is the past and those days are over. I am sure the guys who played music before Jazz came into prominence said the same things about how the music has changed. The same goes for heavy metal to grunge music and so on and so on. But the thing is the skill level and making the the music grow into something new. There has to be some sort of evolution, the art form must go forward or cease to exist and that seems to be the main problem in hip hop music today.

There is no connection to the past MCs, Djs, producers and so on. For example, if you remember when Nas came out he was already connected to the Main Source who were at the top of the game when they gave him a cameo on their album. There is a connection there to the next generation of MCs making sure that the guy has lyrical skills and can make a good record. This means, you are not wasting the time of the public and people who just happen to love listening to Rap music. The same thing was done for Snoop when he came into the rap game. He had to be cleared by Dr.DRE and you see how that worked out.

There are some guys out there who want it and believe in themselves so much that they make it happen i.e. GUCCIMANE. Personally, I think the guy is not that good but he loves what he does and it translates over to others who want that spotlight. So, while I think this dude has no skills I will respect his game and support him because he may bring the next great artist that may bring great rap music for my ears. GUCCI!!!
