Nunwell House is a Jacobean and Gregorian style building that has its origins in the 12th century! It was the family house of Sir John Oglander. During your tour of Nunwell House, you will be able to see a huge collection of furniture and paintings that date back to the 12th century. The gardens that surround Nunwell House are also beautiful and well maintained. One can also get a good view across the Solent. Nunwell House is open to the public on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. during the months of May to September. Adults will be charged 9.50 to enter, while children pay 5 as an entrance fee.


The Needles Old Battery

The Needles Old Battery located at West High Down in Alum Bay is yet another historical site to visit during your Isle of Wight holidays. Leave your Isle of Wight Cottages after an early breakfast to make the best of your day at this place. The Needles Old Battery is situated atop a high cliff that offers a great view of the Needles Rocks. You will get a chance to see memorabilia from World War II and the chance to walk in an underground tunnel. The museum plays house to some of the rooms where Victorian soldiers worked with gunpowder. If you happen to travel with kids then they will love the Children's Soldier Trail. An adult ticket costs 5 and a children's ticket 2.50, while a family ticket is priced at 12.50.
