. It comes in different body styles like minibus, van, pick-up, minivan, and so on. They are mostly used not only by people who are in business and from upper economic class but also by government agencies and private companies.
The first generation of HiAce vehicles that were introduced by Toyota in 1967 was delivery and pickup vans used for multi purposes. The vehicle known as a campervan was a reliable and practical vehicle.
In 1977, Toyota came up with the new version of HiAce, which is known as the second generation vehicle. Coming under 20-40 series, they came under different body styles like a double cab pickup, super-long-wheelbase van, and high-roof commuter.
The third generation saw different variants, for example the cabs looked like Toyoace light truck with different frontal styling. It was followed with pickup trucks categorized under 80-90 series classification. However, these models were redesigned subsequently in 1987 and 1990. The fourth generation vehicles, which were introduced in 1989, had many features. These vehicles featured a wide range of engines ranging from 2-litre petrol engines to 3-litre turbo-diesel engines, rear-wheel drive and permanent four-wheel drive system. Some of the models appeared were standard- and long-wheelbase wagon, standard- and long-wheelbase van, long- and super-long-wheelbase high-roof van.
In 1995, Toyota again introduced different models for different markets. The Japanese market saw the launch of Granvia, a semi-bonneted van while the European market got a new version, a 2.4 liter normally aspirated diesel or 2.7 petrol engine cars. New face-lifted models again followed in 2000 with power outputs of 95bhp (70kilowatts) and 117bhp (82kW) respectively. This increased the sales of HiAce cars in European markets. The year 2004 brought in a different version of vehicles with unique features like four-speed, five-speed and automatic transmission versions, more space, etc. The popular models in vogue were long-wheelbase wagon, long-wheelbase van, wide super-long-wheelbase high-roof Grand Cabin, etc.
These days HiAce vehicles are mostly used in Africa due to its reliability and ability to travel on a wide range of terrain.
