Low-heeled shoes have been making a comeback. As recently as this spring, The New York Times ran a story on the surprising popularity of ballet slippers on the city's sidewalks. Everybody, it seems, is embracing flats, loafers, and slippers, for casual occasions and even in the workplace. Although they are very trendy, even older crowds have come to embrace the shoes for their comfort and style. With flat heels, however, one must remember to be extremely careful in selecting what sorts of clothing to wear. Wearing anything too long with a flat shoe will make you look shorter. Because flats have been around for so long, you run the high risk of looking dated if you select a shoe that is out of style. While older style heels and boots can occasionally make a reappearance in the contemporary woman's wardrobe, older flats look out of place.
