I'm going to set the scene: Imagine I walk into your home at 6.30pm tonight and watch you. Here's what might be happening for you: At 6.30pm its' all systems go. You've just got home and you start cooking dinner. Your ingredients are strewn across the kitchen bench, cutlery and cups are in the sink, and your children (if you have them) are wanting your help with everything from homework to washing themselves to asking a million questions all at once. Your partner comes home (if you have one) and helps, but not enough and quite frankly he's annoying you too. You haven't even begun to wind down yourself and you are helping everyone relax from their day and give them what they need. It's a miracle if you are in the bath by 8pm and relaxing by yourself. Dinner, cleaning, preparing for the next day has to be done before you attend to your needs. What you need is another WIFE...She would understand you and just get on with it!

If I watched you - I might see that by the end of the night you are spent with only enough energy to watch some TV after the clearing up has been done and for bonus points have taken yourself to bed BEFORE you fall asleep on the sofa....

The women that I coach tell me that before they did my program they often felt "bored, weary, spent, numb and in need of some chocolate, a glass of wine or something squidgy to eat to get them through the evenings"


..And of course! How do you keep your GLOW when you have given the best of yourself to the day (working, shopping etc) and then give what is left of you to your partner/kids/quality time for yourself? You are not giving the best of yourself to your partner, you are too shattered.

So how do you keep that GLOW so you can keep yourself in tip top shape for everyone and for yourself?

When you feel frazzled and worn down by it all - it's because you have been regularly giving out more than you have been receiving. Instead of reaching for that glass of wine ask yourself in that moment: "What do I need to receive right now?"

For your health's sake, your relationship's sake and most importantly for your sake, allow yourself to receive more during the day so that by the evening you are not in survival mode. We have been brought up on the masculine belief that it is better to keep going until the job gets' done. This does not work for women like you and me! I want you to allow yourself to receive more. It might be to flirt with that man on the bus, or to go outside and close your eyes and just breathe for 30 seconds. Re-train yourself to receive right now - as you read this, wrap your arms around your shoulders and say to yourself "I am one hell of a gorgeous woman and I am going to receive, receive, receive today until I am full!"

Ask for what you want so that the asking makes you feel good! How many of you don't ask because it's much easier to do it yourself? Let's practice: Ok - say it's to ask your partner or children to take out the rubbish tonight when it's dark and rainy:

You say "You are so helpful to me when I am tired and I love that about you! Would you take the bins out tonight?"

He/kids say "Sure"

You say "Thank you"
