. Kolkata is the one that comes with lots of joy and please when you are dealing with the Holidays in India. The city was formerly known as Calcutta. Its a capital of the West Bengal which is one of the States of India. It has been learned that it has around 4.5 million residents allegedly. It has been comprised of both the Metropolitan as well as suburbs. With the population of around 15.7 million, it has been stated as the third most Populous Metropolitan Area in India, not only that it has been rated as the 13th most Populous Urban Area in the world as well ultimately. In the time till the 17th Century, Kolkata was nothing more than an ordinary village whereas the time till now has seen a drastic change in the city. Today along with Mumbai, Delhi, Chennai, Kolkata is being considered as one of the major metropolitan cities in India. The city has a lot on the business and industrial platform as well. It is a very big platform commercially comprising of giant Industrial Plants along with the luxurious Corporate Houses.

There are many of the good and enthralling places in Kolkata like Fort William, Victoria Memorial, Eden Gardens (Stadium), Birla Planetarium, Howrah Bridge, Marble Palace, Writers Building, Nicco Park, Saheed Minar and National Library to name the few. There are different languages spoken in this beautiful city like Hindi, English, Urdu and Bengali. It also has the two of the highly recommended Educational Institutes such as St. Xaviers College and IIM Kolkata. As there are different people, there are various festivals also getting celebrated at a large scale. Festivals like Durga Puja, Kali Puja, Saraswati Puja, Poila Baisakh, Makar Sankranti, Lakshmi Puja and Vishwakarma Puja. It has a number of Fairs in order to entertaining the people like Kolkata Book Fair, Poush Mela and Joydev Mela.

The city is the amazing combination of different structures mixed so well that it creates a great looking image altogether. The city has a great impact on art, literature, higher learning points, engineering, etc. This diverse combination of various things makes the city worth to watch on India Holidays agenda of a person. No matter what, Kolkata has always been the favorite spot for the food lovers also.
