Verbatim Americas LLC announces its new line of PAR-type retrofit LED lamps
, all with the quality and energy efficiency requirement set forth by the Environmental Protection Agency and the Department of Energy.
Verbatim Energy Star LED lamps provide high efficiency and long lifetime with consistent color output that results in reductions in energy consumption and maintenance costs. The lamps are backed by a five-year warranty.
The lamps provide warm white light with uniform beam distributions, making them ideal for commercial environments such as hotels, restaurants, retail shops, corporate buildings, hospitals and more. Realize an 80 percent reduction in energy consumption when replacing traditional halogen PAR lamps.
The U.S. Postal Service celebrates the beauty of the bonsai by issuing five first-class mail Bonsai 45-cent Forever stamps.
The Bonsai Forever stamps were dedicated in Sacramento at the Iva Gard Shepard Garden and Arts Center by U.S. Postal Service Sacramento District Manager Al Santos.
"Bonsai is an art form that stems from ancient, Oriental culture and the art of the Bonsai is a rare form of beauty and craftsmanship which takes a lot of care and patience," he said.
For each stamp design, artist John D. Dawson of Hilo, Hawaii, painted a particular style of bonsai under the direction of art director Ethel Kessler of Bethesda, Md. The stamps include a Sierra juniper in semi-cascade style, a trident maple in informal upright style, a black pine in formal upright style, an azalea plant in multiple-trunk style and a banyan in cascade style. The plants depicted are roughly 15 to 20 inches tall.
The stamps, sold in booklets of 20, are on sale at post offices nationwide, online at usps.com/shop and by phone at 800-782-6724.
Airbrush master Dru Blair will hold a four-day entry level class on mastering the airbrush: "Real Flames and Skull" for auto and motorcycle enthusiasts Jan. 30-Feb. 2 at Art-Faux Designs, in Bonita Springs.
For 25 years, Blair has been producing artwork with airbrush and color to make viewers believe they are seeing actual photographs. His versatility extends to the commercial and automotive industries for which he captures photo-realistic images of fire on the hoods and fenders of classic cars.
Art-Faux Designs is sponsoring the classes. Cost of the four-day class is $1,195. Reservations are required.

Emily James, a Naples artist, will share the inspirations that have guided her through numerous awards and honors at 1:30 p.m. Feb. 8 in the designers library of the Little Palm Design Group. The presentation is part of its 2012 design seminar series.

Her topic, "Get Organized: Clean your closets and dress like a French woman," will provide tips on organizing wardrobes, maximizing wardrobe selection, minimizing fashion frustration, how to be chic, shop smart and dress like a French woman, how to decide what you can and can't live without and how to creatively dispose of all the unnecessary stuff in your life.
An interactive question and answer discussion will further explore organizing problems and solutions.
