. The most commonly prescribed being either metronidazole, or clindamycin. These must be prescribed by a doctor, usually taken for about seven days. If you are looking for a home remedy for bacteria vaginosis, there are alternative treatment options available.

Lactobacillus Acidophilus is a probiotic that you can purchase at the health food store. Besides being beneficial to digestion, it has been shown to protect the body from parasites, bacteria and the like. It can be purchased in capsule form, or as a powder Acidophilus can be found in yogurt, so it can be really beneficial to add this to your diet, particularly those brands that contain live cultures. In addition, many women have found relief by taking a yogurt covered tampon and inserting it into the vagina overnight.

Being that L.Acidophilus is one of the naturally occurring good bacteria found in the vagina, it is an extremely effective home remedy for bacteria vaginosis. When you have a BV infection, the harmful bacteria has now out numbered the good. When you take acidophilus capsules by mouth, ingest it by eating yogurt or by applying it topically, you are essentially replacing what has been destroyed.

Another home remedy for bacteria vaginosis is the use of a garlic suppository. Garlic has antimicrobial properties, which helps in getting rid of unhealthy bacteria. Tea tree oil is another home remedy for bacteria vaginosis. You can also buy tea tree oil suppositories at the health food store. Tea tree oil, also known as melaleuca oil, also has great antimicrobial properties when used as a topical solution. If you are unable to find these suppositories, you can use the tampon method with this as well, but tea tree is a very potent essential oil and should be diluted with an appropriate carrier oil before usage. It can be very irritating for some women, so this is not one of my preferred methods, yet it is still worth mentioning.

A word of warning though. Do not ever ingest tea tree oil directly, for example by drinking. Tea tree oil is extremely toxic when swallowed, and will cause a severe reaction, including coma, hallucinations, drowsiness, vomiting, and diarrhea .
