Home Remedy For Cleaning Lcd Laptop Screens

, sharper and less strenuous to the eyes as compared to the images produced in a CRT monitor, LCD screens have revolutionised not only the manner in which we perceive leisure TV watching at home, but also the experience of working on a computer or a laptop. LCD screens also have the added benefits of consuming far less electricity than a CRT monitor and are smaller in size, thus looking nattier.

The LCD screen is one of the most sensitive and expensive components of the new generation LCD TVs and laptops/notebooks. By the very nature in which a laptop computer is used, the LCD laptop screens act as magnets to dust and grime. Lint particles, finger prints and smudges seem to stick to these screens in spite of the most careful handling by the user. These have a depreciating effect on the quality of the picture and lessen the enjoyment that one derives from viewing it.

So the normal tendency is to reach out for the nearest available piece of cloth, dip it in water and wipe the screen clean. There indeed could not be a worse way to clean these highly sensitive screens, as the coarseness of a normal cloth and the undiluted salts which are present in the ordinary tap water lead to damage of the LCD screen by leaving residues on it and scratching its surface, thereby leading to deadening of a few pixels; resulting in cloudy images. Therefore, cleaning it in this manner actually leads to compounding the original problem of drop in quality of picture. So how to go about doing cleaning your LCD screens?

One way is to pick up one of the several hi-tech and expensive pre-prepared solutions for cleaning a LCD screen that are available in the market. The other is to prepare a similar and relatively inexpensive solution at home from items which are more or less available in every household. You will need a static-proof cloth, distilled or de-ionised water, and white vinegar or isopropyl alcohol.

An old cotton handkerchief, an old cotton T-shirt, a lint free cloth of microfibre, or any other similar soft cloth is best used while cleaning a LCD screen. It is better to take a slightly larger cloth, as it covers the entire hand and obviates the risk of fingers coming in contact with the screen while cleaning.

Mix equal quantities of the distilled water and white vinegar or isopropyl alcohol (in a 1:1 ratio) into a non metallic container. Fill this into an atomiser bottle one which is pressed at the top to spray a fine mist. Don't spray the solution from this bottle directly onto the screen, as it may not only damage the screen, but droplets running down the face of the screen may somehow enter the screen and permanently damage it. Spray the solution onto the cloth to moisten it and then wipe the laptop screens in either circular motion or top to down with light pressure.
