Home Security Measures to Deter Burglars
Because home theft and burglary are valid and real concerns for homeowners
, there is a wide selection of home security devices that are on the market to ensure that homes are kept safe from potential intruders. Most people believe that home security consists of only alarms and systems that serve to alert the police department of an ongoing burglary. However, that is not that case. You should invest in a home alarm system solely as insurance in the event that the other precautionary mechanisms in place have failed. With various deterrents available, you can invest in relatively cheap mechanisms to drive away burglars in the first place.
If you have a home security system in place, you know that it will largely reduce the risks of a home burglary in your residence. However, if the alarm of that system sounds, it is a little too late. You should strive to prevent those alarms from ever ringing through pre-emptive measures to deter burglars from even attempting to enter your home. First, simply having an alarms system will deter many burglars from attempting to break into your home for fear of the police arriving. They will opt to target another home without such intense security. However, there are also other cheap devices that will further deter burglars from breaking into your home.
The electronic barking dog works as a watchdoganother great form of security, if you do have a living, breathing dog. However, this electronic version serves effectively to scare away burglars. Many burglars are fearful that the home they are targeting has a vicious dog waiting behind the door; thus, upon the sound of a threatening bark, they may opt to abandon their mission. This electronic watchdog replicates the sounds and reactions of the dog very realistically. As the intruder approaches closer and closer to the door, the barks get louder and more frequent, mimicking the sounds of a real watchdogwithout all the responsibility of owning an actual dog. This motion sensor device works great in conjunction with the alarms wired into your home. While this watchdog should deter many burglars, in the event that the burglar is more daunting than the average and still attempts to break into your home, you have added security and insurance.
Another mechanism follows a similar idea, except instead of a watchdog, it produces a shrill sound that will alert neighbors and yourself of an approaching intruder, while sending the burglar fleeing the scene. It can detect an intruder approaching from over thirty feet, producing an unexpected loud sound that will startle the intruder, ideally deterring him from attempting to break into your home. It works similarly to the electronic dog in that it aims to deter burglars from trying; however, it should be a security measure implemented in conjunction with more reliable mechanisms, such as an alarm system. Together, all these devices and mechanisms should ensure the safety and protection of your family, home, and valuables against the risks of a potential home burglary.
