Homeowners May Be Paying Too Much in Real Estate Taxes

Homeowners May Be Paying Too Much in Real Estate Taxes

You will receive your TRIM Notice (Property Value and Real Estate Taxes/Taxation) from the Property Appraiser's Office. If the Property Appraiser has over assessed your real estate, you may be paying too much in real estate taxes.

Pay particular attention to the Assessed Value of your propertyit will be called the Just Value on your TRIM notice. If it is your primary residence, it will be called the Save our Home (SOH) Assessed Value. The deadline for filing will be on the TRIM Notice.

These are very difficult economic times and we have been successful in appealing property assessments and reducing the real estate taxes for many property owners. If your commercial or residential property's value exceeds $1.5 million, KALIS & KLEIMAN, P.A. is available to assist you in appealing your property assessment.

Our firm also has the expertise to handle appeals for agricultural exemptions and complex commercial properties.

KALIS & KLEIMAN represents private and public entities, and individuals, with regard to the valuation of real property. Property valuation lawsuits generally arise when the real estate value of a property is found to be excessive or incomparable to nearby properties with similar characteristics. This can bring about incorrect property tax determinations and a host of complications for the property owner. Our attorneys have intricate knowledge of the valuation and taxation processincluding property tax appeals and defending tax property assessments, and will help clients with their petitions. Often, we can achieve the results our client's desire through negotiation or through active participation before the Value Adjustment Board; but, when litigation is necessary we have been both creative and effective.
