Fourteen students from the top institutes in India received Young Engineers and Scientists' (YES) awards from Honda Motor Pvt Ltd. Students from Indian Institute of Technology participated in the competition and fourteen students bagged the award. Honda introduced the YES award in 2008 to encourage the young engineers and scientists. Dr. K. Kasturirangan, Member, Planning Commission, Government of India, the chief guest of the event, presented the award to the winners. Gagan Pratap, Director, National Institute of Science Communication & Information Resources, and the chief assessor of this year, was also the chief guest in the event. The event was enriched with the presence of Jnaneswar Sen, Vice President, Marketing, Honda Siel Cars India.
The award winning students were Amal Sahai (IIT Guwahati), Abhinandan Tripathi (IIT Guwahati), Rishab Poddar (IIT Kharagpur), Sandeep Samal (IIT Kharagpur), Pranay Jain (IIT Bombay), Palak Dalal (IIT Bombay), Animesh Agrawal (IIT Delhi), Nishita Agrawal (IIT Delhi), Sanchit Pande (IIT Madras), Siddharth Shekhar (IIT Madras), Vibhor Gupta (IIT Roorkee), Ankit Garg (IIT Roorkee), Abhishek Kar (IIT Kanpur), Puneet Singh (IIT Kanpur).
Honda City is a subcompact sedan produced by Japanese automobile manufacturer Honda. The product is in production from 1981 till present date, the production was discontinued in-between in 1994 and 1996. Currently, Honda SIEL Cars India Limited has launched new Honda City variant in 2010, October. It is the third-generation car that woos the Indian customer with lots of changes both in interior and exterior of this new variant, invariably an increased price tag of 46 thousand rupees. The new variant is embedded with additional features like leather steering wheel cover, leather seats, and body colored mud flaps, chrome door sash molding, and chrome trunk garnish and is currently available only with petrol variants, with manual and automatic transmissions. Honda is planning to release diesel variant in near future. With a modest price range between 8.00 lacs and 10.50 lacs.
Honda City has refined aero-dynamic design that makes the car pretty taller wherever it goes. It has aggressive front grille that sparks muscular and durable look. Apart from that, the headlamps come with reflector lenses instead of costly projector headlamps. It also has aggressive tail lamps and bumper at its rear that resembles BMW 3-Series. The interiors are honed with beige upholstery that gives a stunning look and it has spacious comfortable legroom. Advanced instrumental cluster is neatly placed. Honda City is equipped with ample of safety features. The safety systems are - front fenders, engine hood hinges, SRS airbags, Anti Breaking System (ABS), active headrests, Electronic Breakforce Distribution (EBD) and so on.
