Honda Recalls Odyssey Twice In One Week 2011 Honda Odyssey
Honda is recalling more than 36,000 Odyssey minivans from the MY 2011
. The recall is over two different problems related to the vehicles windshield wipers and windows. The second recall for a problem with the front windows affects 2,800 Honda Odyssey minivans.
* Some Odysseys were built with front windows manufactured with an incorrect primer fluid
* Due to this incorrect primer fluid, holding clips designed to bind to the glass may separate
* Its possible that the driver and passenger power windows would come off the track and hinder the working of the windows
* If the holding clips separate the windows come off the track and stop working
* The windows will not be able to go up or down and could also drop into the window tract
* This anomaly potentially leads to either binding or shattering of the window within the door
* If the windows shatter into the van, it could injure the driver and passengers
Dealers will inspect window clips and replace the glass panes, if necessary.
2800 Honda Odyssey minivans produced between October 19th and October 27th 2010 are subject to this recall. Honda will begin notifying owners of affected vehicles in the first half of April.
In the first recall, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration announced that
* It is possible that the front windshield wiper blades become frozen to the windshield
* In such state, if the wiper motor is turned on, one of the front windshield wiper linkage rods may bend or separate from the motor
* The bending or separation of front windshield wiper linkage rods from the motor is due to insufficient stiffness of the rod
* This in turn may cause the windshield wipers to stop working
* In bad weathers of rain or snow, drivers visibility would be hindered increasing the risk for an accident
This recall affects 33,341 Honda Odyssey minivans from the 2011 model year. Honda dealers will replace the front windshield wiper rod free of charge for owners of affected Odyssey vehicles. This windshield wiper recall will start on or before the 14th of April.
Honda dealers will replace either the passenger and/or drivers front window glass free of charge to owners. This window recall will start on or before the 15th of April which is only one day after the wiper recall. Owners of affected vehicles will most likely be able to get both problems fixed at the same time.
