Honda S-max : What You Should Expect

The Ford S-Max was first shown at the Geneva car show in 2006

. It was designed to have 7 seats like the Ford Galaxy but to also be as compact as the Ford C-Max. The Ford S-Max received a range of good reviews when the Ford S-Max was first launched and several awards such as the European Car of the Year in 2007. There are three model types for the S-Max which is usually the case for many of Ford's vehicles. These are the Edge, Zetec and Titanium. The Titanium model is top of the range Ford S-Max and the basic model is the Edge.

The Ford S-Max is priced fairly high compared to its competitors. With this extra cost though, you do receive additional advantages that you don't necessarily achieve on cheaper vehicles targeted at a similar market. For example the Ford S-Max is very spacious and versatile which is fantastic for younger families. This is particularly apparent in the rear and boot of the vehicle where you can put a full week's worth of food shopping in the boot. This is a surprise because you just don't appreciate how large the inside of the car is until you see it for yourself. Space and versatility are a must for younger families these days which are two of the S-Max's most important selling points. The car is great to drive and has reasonable fuel consumption. The only problem with the vehicle is that it does have a higher tax band (ranging from G-J bands) than other vehicles but I imagine this is because of its engine size and how powerful it is.

Although the retail price of the Ford S-Max is relatively high car dealers are offering excellent discounts in order to improve their sales volumes of this type of car. This is not to say the car is difficult to sell, but a competitive price attracts more customers which in turn is likely to improve the number of cars sold. Most car dealers I have spoken to suggest the Ford S-Max is one of their better performing cars in terms of enquiries leading to a sale. This is mainly because of its spacious feel and after the customer has taken the vehicle on a test drive and seen its capabilities and how comfortable and easy it is drive they don't need much persuasion to part with their hard earned cash.

In terms of safety the Ford S-max was awarded a top 5 Euro NCAP crash test which is the highest ranking in its class. The vehicle also comes equipped with seven airbags, however deactivation airbag switches are optional which is a shame because other manufacturers offer this as standard. But the design of the interior tries to minimise the impact for the passenger in case a crash occurs. In addition to this there is an option to add a Blind Spot Indicator which helps the driver to see passing vehicles not shown in the door mirrors. The Ford S-Max is a great MPV that offers a range of benefits for the consumer.
