Honda's Odyssey is the most popular minivan in the United States

. For the 2010 model, it's going to stay that way if Honda has anything to do with it. The Odyssey EX and LX models are equipped with a 244 horse power (at 5,750 rpm), 3.5 liter, V6 engine; the Odyssey has the power and speed necessary to fulfill its role. This engine has met the California Ratings Board (CARB) ULEV-2 requirements for emissions. This is a single overhead cam (SOHC) engine that uses four valves and multi point fuel injection in each cylinder to put out 240 foot pounds of torque at 4,900 rpm and provide one of the best fuel economy ratings for vehicles in the Odyssey's class. The compression ratio of this engine is 10 to 1. This engine is equipped with Honda's Drive by Wire throttle system that helps ensure consistent performance in all driving conditions. Its aluminum alloy composition helps keep the engine weight low, improving the overall performance of the vehicle. The EX-L and Touring models of the Odyssey feature an enhanced version of the same model engine found in the LX and EX. This 3.5 liter iVTEC engine is equipped with Honda's Variable Cylinder Management (VCM) that deactivates cylinders while at cruising speeds when power isn't needed in order to improve fuel economy, so the Odyssey may be running on as few as three cylinders depending on operating conditions. The compression ratio of this engine is 10.5 to 1 and has an 89x 93 bore and stroke like the VTEC. EPA estimated mileage for both versions of the Odyssey 2.5 liter engine is 17 miles per gallon (mpg) city and 23 mpg highway.
