Ever wonder what the difference is between a horse racing tip and horse racing picks? You might walk up to your friend at the local OTB or horse track and ask, "Who do you like?"

He or she may tell you, "I like the three in this race, maybe with the two for an exacta."

Your friend just picked a horse and an exacta. That was an example of free horse racing picks.

On the other hand, another friend may join you and say, "I just talked to the trainer of the Four and he said they put a tongue tie on her and she'll run a big race today. She'd been choking on her tongue before and that is why she was quitting."

You just received a tip. The two are very similar. You don't know why one of your friends liked the 3, but you do know why the other friend prefers the 4. Perhaps if your friend who liked the 3 had been more forthcoming with his or her reason, you would realize that he or she was acting on a tip.

There are consultants in every field and some of them are very good and make a good living helping other people to succeed. To some people, success is more enjoyable when they share it. Financial planners and consultants help others to make money picking stocks. Like the ones who pick horses, they could make money investing in those stocks, in fact they probably do, but they also sell those picks as well.
