Meydan racecourse is constructed on the lines of some of the best racecourses in U.K. and other parts of the world and has many facilities like world class restaurants and 5 star hotels with a parking facility for around 8000 cars. Designed with a unique crescent shaped structure, Meydan racecourse offers a full view of the race tracks and also accommodates one of the classy 5 star hotels of its kind, The Meydan.

Like every year the 16th annual world cup was held at the Meydan racecourse sponsored by the official partner Emirates Airlines. Meydan was covered by the fades of the sand storm before the race was about to commence but soon settled down. In the unanticipated event, the Dubai world cup was taken home by a Japanese horse, the four year old Victoire Pisa trained by the Japanese trainer, Katsuhiko Summi. Japanese horses do not have a good track record on foreign soils but the victory came as a gush of fresh air for Japan still recovering from the aftermaths of the earthquake.
