Guillemin symmetrical clutch

This type of hose coupling is widely used in France and in Belgium by firefighters to couple fire hoses. It is also commonly known under the name of DSP connector. Each end has a ring with two protuberances outside. Once the ring turns, the protuberances lock to the hook of the other hose. These can be fastened by hand or by use of a tricoise wrench.

Machino and Nakajima

Both Machino and Nakajima are types of hose adapters used in Japan, mostly in fire hoses. The Machino type of hose coupling involves a quick connect and disconnect coupling, while the Nakajima involves a quarter turn or sexless coupling.

Storz

Mostly used in Germany, it involves a quarter turn coupling or sexless coupling. It is easy to connect and with no particular male and female end. Lugs are normally used for its connection.

NST

Also known as the National Standard Thread, this type of hose coupling are normally used in the US. The male and female straight (non-tapered) threads screw together and the connection is sealed with a gasket.

For Higher End Pull

For higher end pull, the holedall family of hose adapters is normally used. These include the Mulconroy, IX (Internally Expanded), and the Scovill/Rostra. These types of hose adapters are normally used for higher end pulls, such as oil suction and discharge. And these types of hose couplings are normally installed with special machinery.

For Garden Hoses

As for garden hoses, there are two popular types of hose couplings used around the world. These are the Hoselink and Hozelock. The hoselink involves a bayonet type connector utilizing an 0 Ring compression to provide a watertight connection, while the hozelock involves a push-fit connector.
