Hospitality sector in India has achieved new heights today

. Foreign travellers are showing new interest in our country, which has led to an unprecedented growth in the hospitality sector. Foreign Visitors to India has reached a record of appox. four million and the revenues have reached a height of approximately six billion US dollars. Hospitality Industry and travel & tourism industry is closely interlinked.

India is attracting visitors from other countries and is emerging as a favorite holiday destination and due to this reason; hospitality industry is working overtime towards improving itself. The incoming international tourists are being taken care of by hotels specially five star hotels offering comfort, warmth and amusement amenities to their guests.

The flourishing hospitality industry in India is 2nd only to China in Asia. As per Indian tourism ministry, around four million tourists visited India in year 2009, which has enhanced to ten million in year 2010. But there is hitch; India is facing a vast deficiency of rooms, i.e. it is "under roomed" while the tourists are growing speedily. There is a big deficiency in hotel accommodations.

Hospitality sector plays a key role in the total economic growth of the country. Along with the speedy industrial growth and advancement of tourism, the catering and 5 star hotel sector is flourishing at a speedy pace. The Indian middle class is becoming prosperous day by day and domestic Indian tourist travel is springing up speedily, allowing this class to avail five star hotel facilities.

Gurgaon, Hyderabad, Bangalore, Chennai, Pune and Mumbai suburbs are pulling in international investment as these cities are with the largest development pipelines giving rise to five star hotel projects. These cities alone account for eighty-nine of the 160 projects in the pipeline and approximately 17,000 guest-rooms, which is around 68% of the rooms in the total pipeline. Of these, hundred will have four, five star hotel and luxury hotels designations.

Almost all the major hotel operators such as Oberoi Group, Taj Group, ITC Group, InterContinental, Welcome Group, Hyatt group is found in almost all metros and cities like New Delhi, Mumbai, Hyderabad, Kolkata, Chennai, Agra, Bangalore, Jaipur, etc.
