Host A Super Football-themed Birthday Party

As hard as it may be to believe, the beginning of football season is less than two months away. NFL training camps start in only a few weeks and before you know it, the first kickoff of the year will be upon us. A football-themed party would be the perfect idea for anybody who has a birthday in the near future and who can't get enough gridiron action. Hosting a great pigskin extravaganza can be an easy way to score a touchdown with someone special.

Sending out exciting invitations is the best pre-game routine to ensure your shindig is a success. This can be an opportunity to be clever and play on the motif. One way to do this is to create ones that look like tickets to the big game. Instead of the name of the teams playing, put who the event is for, and in the area where seats would be, put the location of the venue. Ticket-like invitations are not the only option, however. They can even be shaped like a football or maybe be modeled after a flyer touting a long-awaited match up.

The guest of honor will certainly want their favorite team represented when it comes to how his or her celebration is decorated. Whether he or she roots for the Chicago Bears or the Green Bay Packers, make sure to incorporate the team's colors or logo. For example, hanging purple and yellow streamers for a Minnesota Vikings fan would be an excellent touch. Aside from adorning the wall with colors reminiscent of a football team, dressing the table with a tablecloth that looks like a field could be another good choice. Life size cutouts can add a sense of realism to a get-together, and that is no more true than for one that is sports related. Placing a cutout of a quarterback getting ready to complete a pass, a running back going in for the score or a referee signaling a touchdown will make guests feel like they're at Giants Stadium.

It would not be a sporting event without the appropriate cuisine. Popcorn, chips, peanuts and other similar snacks are a must and should be held in football shaped bowls for extra effect. If a certain team's logo or colors are present in decorations, the silverware, plates and napkins should match accordingly.

Also, perhaps you or your guests like to dress the part. Referee shirts or the jersey of your favorite player are one way to bring the feel of the action to your soire. Inflatable footballs can do the trick, too. Not only will they provide an improved atmosphere, but partygoers can toss them around as well.

Don't drop the ball on having a fantastic football-themed birthday bash, as it is a great way to meld the excitement of game day with the appeal of becoming another year older. Call the right plays and it is sure to be a hit not only with those who attend, but with the birthday boy or girl.
