Hot Tubs As Forms Of Alternative Therapeutic Remedies
Modern medicine has dis-proven a lot of old medical practises and myths
, especially when it comes to things like alternative medicine. Whilst many of these types of healing have been pushed aside, or people are very sceptical in their effectiveness, as most are not proven to work.
Yet some forms of alternative medicine have been researched and scientifically proven to aid healing in some cases. These are things that most of us do in fact view as 'real medicine', such as chiropractors, yoga, hypnosis, aromatherapy and more.
Some of these types of alternative medicine are more easily available to use, whilst others can be quite costly. Anyone can learn yoga and depending on your budget you can either try to learn yourself, or go to proper courses and lessons.
However possibly one of the most commonly overlooked type is hydrotherapy. As the name may suggest, hydrotherapy is the therapeutic use of water. Whilst this might sound a little odd, a lot of us would have already used this kind of therapy without even thinking about it! How often have you come home from a stressful day at work and decided to go and relax in a nice warm bath?
Of course there is a lot more to hydrotherapy than simply taking a bath! One of the greatest ways to make use of it in your own home is by using a hot tub or spa. Whilst both names are used interchangeably, so a spa is a hot tub and a hot tub is a spa, some companies do try to use the word spa for models designed for relaxation or hydrotherapy.
Hydrotherapy uses different variables such as water temperature, water flow and pressure, depth and even steam to treat problems. These problems can be both physical or psychological in nature. The most commonly treated problems are back ache and stress, but they can also be used for other types of physiological injuries or simply just for their relaxation properties.
Back ache is one of the most common forms of injury in the world and it is something that almost all of us will suffer with at some time in our lives. A few people will even have prolonged long term back ache, either due to injury or constant straining of the back. This is most commonly caused at work, by things such as heavy lifting or having to sit in an uncomfortable position for long periods such as at a computer.
Hot tubs help to relieve back ache by using controlled jets of water to target specific problem areas. These jets work under the water to push water at the body, which in turn causes your body to react to them. This reaction is your body's natural response to the stimuli of the pressure exerted on your body by the water, as well as the sensation that you feel. These stimuli are carried deep in to the body where they help to relax and ease tension in your muscles.
