To a child, having a Hot Wheels Video Racer means being the center of attention among friends. To an adult, having one means having a piece of amazing history. Throughout the decades, these awesome toy cars from Mattel have fueled the imagination of children and adults alike.

In the beginning...

Mattel rolled out their first die cast model cars in 1968, starting out with sixteen different 1:64 scale car models. However, these were more of collectibles. Until somebody came up with the idea or racing them. Yes, complete with tracks.

Hot Wheels became an instant hit. Track sets built for speed and stunts became available. Themed tracks soon followed. The next step began when somebody decided to design his own tracks. Soon, kids were busy designing their own tracks, with some coming up with really unique stunts. Jumps, turns, loops, you name it. The only limit would be how much track you have. With a little more creativity, anyone can come up with a design complete with stunts capable of catching Hollywood's attention...or your friends at least.

Mattel has taken it up one more notch by introducing the Hot Wheels Video Racer, perfect for those moments when you finally created a stunt routine that will make Fast and Furious look like child's play. Sure, you can just record the moment with an ordinary video camera. But would it be more fun if it looks like you're the one driving? Looks like Mattel has been listening very well.

This amazing Video Racer features a built-in video camera which allows 12 minutes of footage at 30 FPS 640x480 or 24 minutes at 60 FPS 320x240. It also features a microphone to record sound, an LCD screen for video playback, erasing videos, and switching video modes. Since there are no built-in speakers, there is no sound. Don't worry, this toy can be hooked up to a computer with a USB cable for easy downloading. In addition, the car batteries can be recharged through the USB port.

But wait, there's more!

Mattel has also provided child-friendly video editing software with the Hot Wheels Video Racer. It features drag and drop functions for adding music, special effects, and scene transitions. Just a few clicks and the video is ready for sharing with friends.

More than meets the eye...

Included in the set is a special case and clips which turns the car into a multi-purpose camera you can strap into just about anything: wrist, bike, skateboard, your pet dog or cat. Combined with the video editing software, it helps unleash a child's creativity and imagination, not to mention providing hours of fun.
