, Kuwait City occupies a key position on the shores of the Persian Gulf. The city suffered in the Gulf War, but its aftermath saw the economy booming. A notable effect of this was investment from international hotel chains. There are now a large number of international hotels in Kuwait City we at Holiday Inn among them.

Kuwait City is the economic centre of Kuwait and its financial, commercial and political hub. Following its independence from the United Kingdom in 1961, the Emirate became fabulously wealthy through capitalising on the many oil fields that it sits on.

But that was 20 years ago. Today, Kuwait is one of the fastest growing economies in the Middle East, with a thriving free economy that lays open its arms to foreign investment. Today, conference hotels in Kuwait City play a vital role in the day-to-day running of the Central Business District (KCBD). Kuwait has the second-largest stock exchange in the MEA, and with the headquarters of most of the Kuwaiti corporations, banks and industries at its hub, it is today an undisputed leader of Middle Eastern commerce.

Like many hotels in Kuwait City, the hotel opened for business relatively recently in 2005. A dynamic conversion of what was an existing apartment block, we are a striking statement on the skyline of the rebuilt city, and a magnet for visiting delegates and business entrepreneurs. The 24 storeys encompass fully-serviced meeting rooms seating up to 400 people, a business lounge with free internet access, a panoramic 2-storey gym, a health spa and indoor swimming pool. The rooms are spacious and luxuriously furnished, with Wi-Fi throughout. Like most of the Arab Emirates, Kuwait is an alcohol-free zone, but we make up for this with our dining choices, which range from gourmet Lebanese cuisine to a pizza parlour.

Kuwait has explored new avenues of commerce in the aftermath of the Gulf War, and invested a huge amount in leisure and tourism. A magnet for overseas workers as well as leisure visitors, it is the cultural and retail hub of the Emirate, with concert halls, malls, museums and, of course, miles of beautiful beaches. Our hotel occupies a prime position on the Gulf Coast Boardwalk, close to the beaches and Marina Mall, where you can shop for designer goods from internationally renowned names.

Another place worth visiting is the Al Hamra Centre. It encompasses both traditional and ultra-modern design concepts; the Arabic dcor and traditional ambience of the Mall a perfect match for the strikingly futuristic Al Hamra Tower. When finished, the centre will house a full leisure, retail and entertainment complex. The Avenues Mall, another new development, will be one of the largest in the Emirates when completed.
