Hotels at Poas Volcano offer Great Locations and Amazing Views

There are several hotels in the Poas area offering different levels of comfort and differing prices. It is best to book a room before arriving in the Poas area to ensure you are not left without a place to stay.

Poas Volcano receives more than 250 000 visitors a year so the area can get very busy during the high season and over weekends.

Staying closer to the Poas Volcano National Park gives you the best access to the park and will mean you can get to the park earlier and beat the crowds and have a better chance at clear weather.

In Fraijanes about 12 kilometres before the park at Poas there are a few accommodation options. The same is so for Poasito, about 8 kilometres from the park and on the road to Poas.

Vara Blanca is on the road from Heredia to Poas and also has some lodging, but the roads in this area are not great and best to avoid at night.

Peace Lodge is a good option for the large budget but is also situated on a very bad stretch of road. Chubascos near Fraijanes has nice rooms set in a garden, but it is a bit of a drive.

Jaulares in Fraijanes also has garden rooms, they are rustic and very basic but well priced.

Two lodges closer to Poas Volcano are Lo Que Tu Queiras and Lagunillas, both are best to avoid. Lagunillas has a terrible access road, and their cabins are not worth the effort. Lo Que Tu Queiras has very old wooden huts and they are less than inviting.

Poas Lodge is a good hotel and probably the best value for money is the Poas area. Poas Lodge has nice hotel rooms with really amazing views and good food options in the restaurant.
