How Access Control Cards Keep Criminals At Bay

For as long as there has been a need for security

, humans have endeavored to find new and improved ways to keep their possessions safe. Whether its parents locking their liquor cabinet, banks placing money in a vault or computer companies entering encryption codes, if there is a way to protect something we will find it. Unfortunately, all of this is necessary because there are thieves out there as determined to steal your goods as you are to keep them. This means that experienced thieves will usually find a way to bypass security measures which is why we need to keep improving and finding new and better ways to keep criminals at bay.

The dawn of the technological age means that locks and keys are almost obsolete. Most seasoned crooks will be able to find a way past locks anyway. Nowadays, companies realize that control points and access control cards are the best means of securing their premises. There are an almost infinite number of ways to implement control points and you will probably come across a few of them every day. Tickets are a means of controlling who comes in and out of an event such as a baseball match, a concert or the cinema. You have to either present the ticket to a company employee or else you have to scan it through an electronic control point.

You will notice that stadiums that hold concerts will always have separate entry and exit points. This makes things far easier for employees because if everyone were allowed enter or exit any way they chose, crime rates at such huge events would increase because it would be so hard to monitor criminal activity. Access control cards alone are not enough to facilitate smooth sailing due to the number of people involved. It is also necessary to have other security measures like guards and CCTV to ensure that everyone is safe, that no threats are allowed to get into the building and no crooks are allowed make their escape.

Businesses that are office based will normally ask their employees to use HID access cards in order to gain access to the building. They will be given these cards which will contain all the information normally found on a regular ID card but there will also be something like a bar code on it. This will contain a sequence of numbers which will be transferred through the control point to the computers database. Here, the computer will look at your information to decide if youre allowed to get past the door. Companies are able to restrict access to certain areas at certain times in this way.

The word security seems to have negative connotations these days but with organizations generating huge sums of money there will always be people trying to illegally get a slice of the pie. Measures like access control cards are also necessary so that the public will not try and gain free entry to locations where they must pay. Simply put, as long as there are criminals there will be the need for security.
