How Alcohol Consumption And Alcohol Addiction Affect The Society

. Examples of alcoholic beverages are wine, beer, rum, whisky, brandy, and gin. Fermentation is a method involve in the making of alcoholic beverages. People drink these beverages for purposes of recreation and temporarily boosting one's energy. The effect of these beverages towards a drinker differs according to the alcohol content in a beverage rather than the number of glasses drank.

Since beverages differ in alcohol content, 1 glass of beer's alcohol content is less than that of 1 glass of wine. Beer contains about 4-8% of alcohol while wine generally has 10-22 % alcohol content. The longer the fermentation process, the higher the alcohol content generally. Whisky and brandy are usually fermented longer so it's expected that a small amount of these drinks, brings stronger effects to the drinker.

Many young adults especially in the ages 18-21 are drawn to drinking beer along with friends with no alarming thought or worry of possible side effects. Social events and parties usually serve alcoholic beverages to lighten the mood of the crowd. People are more likely to feel comfortable and relaxed with a little amount of alcohol intake. People who only drink alcoholic beverages during special or company events are also referred as social drinkers. The alcohol doesn't literally control their lifestyle. While many individuals may consider themselves as regular drinkers, the addiction towards alcohol is very much likely to happen when alcohol intake starts very young.

Based on research, alcohol addiction can be hereditary. When one or two parents are alcohol addicts, the chances of their kids to be also like them is higher compared to those children whose parents are not addicted to alcohol. It has been observed that in many 3rd world countries, alcohol consumption is not strictly monitored. This means that teens and even children can buy alcoholic drinks easily without question.

In the US, one of every six people have a problem with alcohol abuse. It has also been observed that there are several cases where this addiction is coupled with another substance abuse like drugs. The effects of the drug are heightened when the user drinks alcohol. Some of those assessed with this kind of addiction also suffer from certain mental disorders like anxiety and depression which must be dealt and solved together. This is termed as dual diagnosis. One cannot separate treatment for alcohol addiction and the disorder. The success of therapy for dual diagnosis lies on the treatment of both the alcoholism and mental disorder simultaneously.

Therapy and treatment is offered for all those who may be under the whirlpool of addiction whether it be a single form of addiction or one with a psychological disorder.
