How Are Cells Influenced By Folic Acid?

Folic Acid is a B vitamin and is soluble in water

. Basically this nutrient can be eliminated from a persons body in a little amount of time. The good news with this is that its harder to overdose on water soluble nutrients. Unfortunately it makes it easier for a person to lack enough of this nutrient so that they experience health problems. One of the great things about folic acid that the a persons body needs this vitamin in order to synthesize DNA.

Synthesizing something means putting a few things together to make something different, kind of like putting together parts to make a car. A cells DNA is where all of the central blueprints are located that tell the cell exactly how it's supposed to operate. Cells are continuously going through the cycle of being born and then dying and then being born again. For instance someone loses billions of skin cells each day. This is why folic acid is so important because it enables cells to copy correctly and not make an error. If an error occurs it could lead to all kinds of health issues such as cancer and diabetes.

This nutrient is especially important to pregnant woman. If a woman takes enough folic acid she could cut her chance of giving birth to a baby with a neural tube defect by as high as 70%. However a neural tube defect usually occurs in the very beginning of a pregnancy. The good news is that its easy to get this nutrient and in fact some cereals can give someone 100% of their daily value. The best places to get this ingredient are in cereals, breads, pastas, beans, vegetables and even some meats.

Also folic acid aids in the creation of red blood cells, which can also give someone some amazing health benefits. Hemoglobin is a complex substance that is found in red blood cells. One of the main reasons a persons blood is the color red is due to hemoglobin. Also red blood cells have a very important job of transporting oxygen in between various tissues and cells that need it.
