How Call Centre Jobs Can Improve Your Cv

Working in the recruitment industry, I see jobseekers come clamouring through the

doors looking for their dream vocation, and during the interview, when I try to work out what their preferences might be, the majority say 'no call centre jobs' due to the bad reputation the industry has. I manage to persuade most people that it is a good start to a career, but of course it has its pros and cons. Here are my thoughts on how working in a call centre could actually help your career.

Everyone knows that the way to the perfect job is to be able to demonstrate core skills such as communication, problem solving, task management, mediation, and time efficiency. Without a CV that demonstrates that these skills are present, it is incredibly difficult to walk into an ideal job, but call centre jobs are open to people of all levels and skill sets, offering the perfect opportunity to boost that CV. In fact, it is possible for those who have a desire to succeed to progress fast through the ranks of a call centre to a managerial position, giving that extra boost in the eyes of a prospective employer.

Call centre jobs are great for finding your way around a computer management system, and once you have mastered one, you can use this on your CV to say that you are competent at learning new computer programmes, ideal for a position in the IT industry or working in an office. The opportunity to deal with clients on the telephone also adds an extra dimension to a CV that can be applied to many different industries. Communication and negotiation skills, especially when dealing with a dissatisfied customer or client, is an asset in the service industries, customer relations and a number of other client facing jobs, whether it is on a shop floor, or in an office.

As well as offering technical and communication skills, call centre jobs also allow employees to shine through with their individual talents, especially when it comes to management. The high turnover rate within call centres means that new positions are permanently opening up for existing employees as they already know how the company and the systems work. If you show determination, you can fill the boots of your supervisor within a short space of time, giving an opportunity to train other staff members up, and to take charge of a team. By giving some jobs a chance, it is possible that anyone who wants to get back to work can find their ideal career path and build up a CV to help them get the job of their dreams one day.
