If you need to monitor your home or business from intruders

, burglars, or fire, you can install an expensive alarm system that costs from $300 up, with monthly fees of about $35, that does not offer automatic fire detection. There is an alternative that is designed to monitor your home from intruders and fire, has a low cost, no monthly fees, called the CyberEye ECO.

The CyberEye ECO is a tiny device about 3 x 2 inches that silently monitors a room 24/7/365. It is a small, discrete autodialer that can be placed in an out of the way location to watch over your house when you go to work, or your office or business when you go home. An autodialer is something that dials a pre-programmed number when an event happens, or a sensor is activated or "tripped. It calls you and up to five other pre-programmed phone numbers.

The CyberEye ECO works in three ways:

* It is a motion detector to detect movement or intruders

* It is a thermal sensor to detect fires

* It has a microphone to listen to the surrounding area and hear the intruder, and a speaker to alert them

The motion detector will detect any movement up to about 15 feet (5 meters) from the front of the device. It has a 90 degree field of view, and can be adjusted up or down to point at what you want it to "see." This way your pet or small child won't set it off. When a person walks in front of the motion detector, or if it "sees" a door opening, it will trigger the motion detector.

There is a thermal detector that will detect heat from a fire starting at 122F(50C). It is smart enough to know to call a different number if it is a fire or an intruder.

When motion or heat is detected, its internal auto dialer will call up to six pre-programmed phone numbers, and let you know with one of two pre-recorded messages (that you record), that there is either an intruder in your home or office, or there is a fire. You can then stop the autodialer from calling the rest of the numbers, and you can then call the police or fire department, possibly saving your property or house.

For example, you can program the first two numbers to call your and your spouses cell phone, call three can be sent to call a different number depending on the emergency. It will keep calling all the numbers, unless you tell it to stop. If it detects heat, it calls the fire department, the police if it detects an intruder, and you can hook up sensors that can even call the gas company if it smells gas.

There is also has a microphone and speaker, allowing you to audibly monitor the situation in room and person who is there, as well as the ability for two-way communication. It will allow you to listen to what is going on, and actually talk to who is there. You can tell them you called 911, and police are on their way.

It connects directly to the phone line, and has an extra jack to hook up an external phone. It runs off of two AA batteries that last up to six months.
