How Can You Slow (or Maybe Even Reverse) Skin Sun Damage?
Extreme time out in the uv rays of the sun over a period of time leads to damage to your skin
. The technical term for skin sun damage is photo aging, and it is among the major reasons for some of the most visible aging signs, and in particular lines and wrinkles and leatherlike skin. But can you undo skin sun damage?
Some sun exposure is good for you, but an excessive amount is not. Cancer of the skin is ultimately the most severe impact of excessive Ultra violet exposure, and melanoma as it is technically known, is significantly harmful and may kill you. However even if you don't get cancer excessive exposure to the sun can dry out the skin, cause discolouration and blotchiness and keratoses, which are unattractive, and result in a tough leathery look on your face.
And of course all this makes you look older than you need to, especially the wrinkles. Excess ultraviolet light causes damage to the cells of the skin. It draws moisture out of your skin, and if you expose your self too much over time the face can pay the price. Obviously the sun's rays are not the only cause of noticeable aging. Obviously how old you are is a massive factor, but there's also other factors which bear on this.
For example smoking is as bad as excess sunburn and results in premature facial lines and aging as well. Excessive alcohol usage is very bad for your skin. But could you reverse skin sun-damage? You certainly can prevent any more, by being conscious of the risks, covering up and taking care when under the sun during summer, but could you turn back damage already done?
To an extent you are able to. You won't make the face look as it did when you were 18, but it is possible to improve the look and feel of your skin by improving your overall skin health. This is done by using top quality skin care products that really help restore the levels of elastin and collagen that have been lost as we grow older. Bear in mind though that simply buying skincare products that have elastin and collagen in the container has very little effect.
Remarkably one of the best steps you can take is to consider taking Omega-3 supplements. The essential fatty acids referred to as the Omega3 fats are much like the makeup of the skin oils which help rehydrate and restore essential nutrients. And if you do get sunburned make use of an Aloe Vera after sun product to assist to restore some of the moisture lost that day. You'll be able to reverse skin sun damage to a degree if you use the right products. But remember that your expectations play a big part in this. Be realistic in your expectations and do not expect you'll look 18 again.
