Biochemistry is not the only place a CO2 analyser can be found. There are other analysers such as those used in bio-fuels, geology, or environmental studies. Geology and environmental studies require a different set up for the carbon dioxide analyser. You also have organic and inorganic analysers.

This type of machine is used in biochemistry to test organic and inorganic compounds, usually removing the inorganic from the organic compound to get a carbon dioxide reading.
