How Clean Should Your Brochure Design Be?

Neatness and cleanliness is something we all look for when we do something or create something

. Something that looks messy can never be called professional or effective because it will fail to attract people. The same goes for your brochure design. If it is not neat and if it looks messy and cluttered then no one will pick up your brochure. Even if someone will pick it up accidentally, then they wont bother reading it as the content and pictures will be scattered all over the page without any proper formatting. Thus, in order to ensure that your brochure help you look professional and get your market interested in you products, you need to create it cleanly to give it a professional look.

Now, the thing is that there might be a difference of opinion in terms of what makes a design neat and what makes a brochure design cluttered. For example, lets say you pick up a brochure with text all over the page and images just everywhere without any formatting then you will say that this brochure looks untidy and it looks unprofessional because the company didnt bother organizing the content properly. Thus, the company is not even professional. However, the company or the designer may have a different perception. They may say that having white space doesnt make it look neat. Since there is lots of content, it had to be presented in the manner it was created.

So, this will turn out to be a never ending debate without any fruitful results. Now, the question is that how can we contribute and end all the confusions? Well, we need to honestly look at the role of a brochure and then determine how it should be designed what will make it messy and what will make it totally tidy and professional. This is the only way of judging the neatness, because if the brochure doesnt perform then you will only lose your money as well as credibility.

We need to take the example of a local shop. Lets say you go to blockbuster to rent a movie. You are looking for a comedy movie, but there is no sign of where you can find them. What will you do? Keep walking everywhere, pick up every box to read the description and determine if its an action, science fiction or comedy movie? You certainly wont want to do that and you will instead walk out of the store. This is the very reason why blockbuster has different sections for different types of movies, like comedy, horror, actions, etc.

The same goes for your brochure. It should help the reader understand your business and products strategically. If you just put all the information on the brochure without a proper sequence, then it will only annoy your market. See, you shouldnt make people wonder what part of your brochure they should read first. Its the job of the brochure design to guide the person that where to begin and where to end.
