Owners of a Brother color laser printer have overwhelming great things to say about these printers. And it doesnt matter which model, according to the owners, they love them all. Numerous Brother color laser printer models were reviewed and comments were general to all models. Setup and Networking A majority of the reviewers reported setting up a Brother color laser printer to be easy. Installing the networking was also rated as easy with only minor issues getting the wireless interface to work. About half had no issues with the wireless setup. And once either network interface was installed, no problems were reported that we found. Toner cartridges were included with the Brother color laser printer, but as with other printer manufacturers, network and USB cables were not included. Printer Quality and Paper Type Print quality on the Brother color laser printer was in every case rated as excellent or very good. Photo printing was OK to good with some people stating the colors appeared dull. Although an overwhelming majority of the reviewers said this color printing quality could be adjusted with either the printer's settings or by installing the postscript driver. This driver comes on the included Brother color laser printer CD. Between these two fixes, color print quality improved dramatically. Minor issues were reported with people buying a Brother color laser printer and realizing that the paper type they want to print on was not supported (ie. Brochure paper or heavy stock paper). Make sure to verify before buying a particular Brother color laser printer model that it supports your special paper type requirements. If you can't find the paper types supported, contact Brother directly at www.Brother.com. Labels printed without incident and very few paper jams were reported on the Brother color laser printer. The one area that was reported again and again as being a problem on a Brother color laser printer was envelope printing. The envelopes would jam or have creases pressed into them during printing. There was a work around that had been provided by Brother's support to print envelopes without issue. Reviewers reported it to be a bit cumbersome and only allowed one envelope to be printed at a time. Opening the back door of the Brother color laser printer and moving the gray levers down would allow envelopes to print properly. Brother's support then recommended moving these levers back to their original position before printing other paper types. However, one reviewer said he left the levers in the down position for all his printing and experienced no problems with the Brother color laser printer. Toner Cartridges Toner or ink usage on the Brother color laser printer was ranked excellent by most. Which is good since toner cartridges can be costly. The Brother color laser printer was reported as not allowing printing after toner hits a certain number of prints on the starter cartridge that is shipped with the printer. It was not clear whether this was on all models or not. Fixing this problem was found by reviewers online. It was as simple as putting electrical tape over a sensor. When replacing a toner cartridge for your Brother color laser printer, consider ink refills where you simply buy ink to refill empty toner cartridges What Else Did They Have to Say? Here's some additional comments from reviewers worth noting. These printers are heavy and have a larger footprint. Brother recommends two people to carry one of their printers. The Brother color laser printer was mentioned as being a little noisy when printing, but quiet when in standby. The time to first print was slow on some models, but once warmed up very fast. The Mac driver included was good and worked well. Duplexing was flawless. The multi-functional Brother color laser printer was also rated very high with faxing, scanning and copying all given very good marks. Scanning documentation was limited and Brother's customer service had mixed reviews. Price for a Brother color laser printer was never a point of contention with any reviewer. It was overwhelming viewed that the Brother color laser printer was a great value for the money. A Brother color laser printer is definitely worth some serious consideration when searching for a new printer. At least, the current owners think so.About the Author:
