The first thing you will need to do is to find a product or service or "niche" that is needed. All internet marketing comes down to finding your niche market and learning how to effectively channel your products or services towards those customers that need them.

Create a presence on the web. You can do this by buying your own domain name promoting your niche on a blog site, create a landing page on Squidoo.com or Hubpages.com and the best way is to get a website. These days it is very easy to get your website up and running.
Step 3:
Generate traffic to your website. The best website in the world will not get business without traffic. Two really effective ways of generating free traffic to your website are writing articles and using forums. Writing Articles and submitting them to article directories is one of the best ways to get traffic. Write articles based on your niche and your keyword research in the resource/bio box add a link to your website. Join forums related to your niche; in these forums you can discuss things about your niche. By communicating in these forums you can build your reputation and show everyone what you are made of. Not only will you learn more about becoming an internet marketer in these forums, but you will also get a link back to your own website for every post you make from the signature file.
Step 4:
Look into affiliate programs. An affiliate program is another great way to become an internet marketer and make money online. There are too many to name, but I know you all have heard of Amazon. Amazon.com has an affiliate program that is definitely worth checking into. Also just type affiliate program into any search engine and see what interests you. Always do your homework to avoid getting scammed. Study the company you are thinking about promoting.
I believe one of the main keys to becoming a successful internet marketer is to choose a direction and focus on it until you start earning an income with it. I know it is very easy to get distracted by all of the "shiny things" out there that promise instant wealth while you sleep, but don't be fooled by these false accusations.
