Most people think a little bit of soap and water is all it takes, but the fact is that cleaning a lacrosse helmet takes a little extra leg work. Mix Cleaning Solution

Start by mixing up a cleaning solution, as this will be your most important asset in cleaning the helmet. While many people use dish soap, it is better to use a higher-powered chemical such as car-wash soap. Be sure you mix up enough soap to be able to submerge the outside of the helmet entirely. Generally, it is best to mix the soap solution in a bucket that will allow you to dip the helmet into the solution.

Dip the Helmet

Once your solution is mixed up, dip the outside of the helmet in and gently agitate without splashing any water inside the helmet. Slowly move the helmet around so as to flush the solution around it. You should see dirt beginning to come off into the solution. Keep the helmet moving for 60 seconds.

Buff the Exterior

Take a clean towel and dip it into the soapy water. Buff out any stains or scuffs from the helmet so that it is completely clean and so that nothing is clinging to the helmet whatsoever.

Sanitize

While this step is optional, it's not a bad idea to sanitize your lacrosse helmet every once in a while. Mix up a common sanitizer solution in a separate bucket and dip the outside of the helmet into it for 60 seconds. Once the sanitizing is complete, wipe the helmet dry with a clean towel.
