How Do Kids Grow By Listening To Stories?

In most of the movies that we see today, we will always see either mum or dad or both reading the little ones bedtime stories before they go to bed

. It seems like the only way to end the night is the kids being tucked in just after dinner and then a certain story is told to them.

This old tradition of making sure the children get a bedtime story before they fall asleep has long been used as a way of instilling knowledge in the young ones. A child's creativity is boosted if they can get a story without having any pictures or graphics to go by as they will have to imagine up their own.

If a child was to illustrate Cinderella for example it would probably be a mirror image of what Walt Disney left behind. A lesser character however, would force the child to come up with an illustration that was from their own thoughts and perceptions.

Storytelling therefore is one of the best ways of fostering vision. It teaches the young ones how to turn thoughts into pictures or words.

Culture has been taught to children for years through the aid of bedtime stories. Important life principles have been imparted on them and they have learned social values in the same way.

The kids can learn compassion and morality. They can begin to differentiate between what is good and what is bad. Their roles in the society begin to become more and more apparent to them. Different things like trust and empathy will begin to make sense to them.

Waiting for dad to get to the most interesting part of a story is not easy. This will make sure that respect for the elder is instilled and patience or good listening skills are taught at the same time too.

Each occasion that one gets to tell a child a bedtime story should be treated like an important chance to impart wisdom on the young one.
