. Discovering what consumers do with their Smartphones can be the key to unlocking potentially more revenue and a greater customer base for your business. Here are three types of customers that can be attracted to your business.
The roamer
This type of Smartphone user is generally seen around more condensed commercial areas such as shopping centres and CBDs (Central Business District). This person will go to where the businesses are the most condensed (e.g. a food court) and look for the strongest signal. If the wireless network is labelled as a business name, then the roamer will search out that business and will probably enter or window shop your business.
This customer is what you want for your business when using appropriate advertising through the internet and wireless hotspots. Using the customers curiosity and willingness for getting something for free can attract these people to your business.
The Taker
This type of Smartphone user has the same type of characteristics as a roamer. This Smartphone user does the same ritual using their phone. The difference is once they find a free hotspot and it is labelled with the business name they will search out that business. On locating this business this user will generally find a location outside the store and use wireless connection without ever entering your business.
This customer is generally what you dont want for your business, but, you can take advantage of this to attract him into your store. Using appropriate advertising both in your store and online you can this customer in. Remember the signal strength on most hotspots wont be as strong outside as it is inside your store as it needs to pass through displays, walls etc.
The Giver
This customer actively contributes to your store and is also known as a loyal customer. This contribution maybe measured in the customer returning to your business, word of mouth or actively commenting on your business over the internet or social media.
