How Do You Find Authentic Designer Handbags
Handbag designers are well aware of their goods being "knocked off" by unscrupulous
sellers who market these bags as authentic but at a much lower price than the original designer bags. These pseudo handbags are sold on every street corner and through various illicit sources by vendors eager to cash in on the popularity of designer handbags and make a buck. There are also legitimate resellers who aren't passing off their wares as original, but offering customers look-alike authentic designer handbags at much lower prices.
Handbag mimics have worked hard to make their bags look exactly like their authentic counterparts and in response, many high-end handbag designers have worked hard to make their bags distinguishable. Which makes these handbag designers a whole lot happier, but can leave consumers scrambling as they try and figure out ways to distinguish between truth and lie when the time come to go shopping for a designer handbag of their own.
There is some good news out there for designer handbag shoppers. If they know what to look for they won't get stung by a rip-off bag.
1. Before anything else, look at the leather of that authentic bag. Leather on the really expensive bags will be of the finest quality. This means it will be soft, smooth and supple. Knock-off bags will use leather of inferior quality that is stiff and scaly and often patched.
2. Stitching is another dead give away that the bag is pseudo. The authentic designer bag will have stitches that match the leather so closely you can hardly see them. The seams will be straight and the edges covered by folds. Cheap knock-off bags will have overlapped leather and possibly even loose ends stitched into the shoulder straps.
If you are not sure about the leather on the exterior of the bag, take a look at the lining on the interior. The pseudo bag will have a basic print or plain fabric lining. The designer bag will have the designer's name printed on the lining.
High-end handbag designers have made another step to ward off imposters. The rivets and metal fixtures on the designer bag will be stamped with the brand name. As an example, Prada stamps the rivets and fixtures with the stem of the "r" slightly awry instead of straight. If you are looking at a Prada bag and see a perfectly straight "r" stamped somewhere, put the bag down and leave the premises.
Finally, a lot of handbag designers today are providing registration cards with each bag to separate their bags from the fakes. Many even include holograms on these registration cards to make duplicating them very difficult. The registration number on the card must match the registration number placed somewhere on the bag. Some designers stamp the number on the bag's interior while some sew or rivet the number on a metal plate. When purchasing your designer handbag, do your homework to determine where the designer of your bag usually places their stamp and that the stamp and information on the registration card provided by the designer are identical.
There you go. You have it. All the tools you need to figure out whether the designer handbag in your hands is real or a fake. Now what are you waiting for? It's time to go forth and find that designer shopping bag you've been dreaming about.
