How Do You Find Your First Medical Transcription Work At Home Job?

I've met many people who want to work at home as medical transcriptionists

. Often they're frustrated, because just about every company wants two years of experience or more. How are they supposed to get experience if no one will hire them?

This isn't a problem unique to medical transcription careers, of course. Many great jobs want experience before they'll hire you, even though there's no other way to get experience.

Or is there?

If you're struggling to find a job in medical transcription, the first thing you need to look at is what you have to offer potential employers. What is it about you that will make them interested in hiring you. Do you bring anything great to the table?

If you just want a job and you haven't been trained as a medical transcriptionist, odds are you don't have anything they're interested in training themselves. You need to get training.

This is true even when you have some experience in the medical field. Even nurses need medical transcription training if they decide to make that change.

Be wary of any job listings that claim to provide on the job training for medical transcription. These tend to be scams. Usually they want you to buy their software. You don't want to waste your time or your money on scams like that.

Find Quality Medical Transcription Training Online

If you want to find your first medical transcription job, your first step is to get quality training. I strongly recommend online medical transcription courses because they're the most like working at home, which is the eventual goal for many transcriptionists.

I suggest choosing a course that is Accepted by AHDI, as they approve courses based on the quality of the medical transcription training provided.

Work hard on the course you choose. Many employers will be interested in the scores you achieve in the program, especially when they're familiar with the reputation of the school you graduated from.

So Where's That First Job?

Once you're well trained, the first job comes about as you hunt. Many schools know which employers are willing to test their graduates, and that gives you a list of companies to try for. Pass the test, and the experience requirement is waived. You're on the road to becoming an experienced medical transcriptionist.

Without proper training, it's just not going to be that easy to become a medical transcriptionist. The demands of the job are too high, the need for quality and accuracy too great for employers to be interested in training people up from scratch. You're much better off paying for your own training than hoping to find a legitimate employer who trains on the job.
