How Do You Get An Ip Location
If you've been in a situation where your network or your home computer has been attacked
, you're probably very familiar with the frustration that goes along with feeling like there's nothing you could have done to have stopped it. Sometimes, people are subjected to attacks over and over again from the same person or from the same network and aren't even able to locate where the attacker is physically. There are ways that you can get this information, however.
Finding an IP Location
It takes the right software to find an IP location. This software can run what's called an IP trace. The trace allows you to get specific location information on whatever IP address happens to be causing the problem. This information includes where the computer is physically located, it sometimes includes the ISP that the user subscribes to and more. These can all be powerful tools in fighting back against someone that's attacking you.
You can use the ISP information to send an abuse report to the company that applies. Most of the time, the companies will act quickly on these reports and will warn the offending user to stop the attacks. If the attacks are particularly egregious or they involve illegal activity, the ISP and physical location information can be used to make sure that law enforcement knows where to start looking for the individual responsible.
Using the Software
The best software for running an IP track should allow you to do so from an easy interface. You shouldn't have to deal with command lines or any other very technical tools to run a simple IP trace. The IP location should include a map that gives you the exact physical address of the offending machine and all the other information that you'll need to pass along to their ISP.
The IP location can sometimes be obtained right from your Internet browser, provided you have the right kind of program. If this is the case, all you have to do is to click a button to see where a particular IP address is located, which IP provides it and all of the other information that you'll need to figure out who is attacking you and how you go about getting them to stop. Contacting their ISP is usually the most effective way, as the ISP can simply cut off their service for good and stop the activity that way.
