HSV Type Two is the type that shows up on the genitals and is spread through sex and physical contact. This type is less common, but still very pervasive. Many times, this type does not have symptoms right away which causes people to wonder how do you get genital herpes. Unfortunately, it can be spread from one person to another without either party knowing it.

If you aren't having oral sex or intercourse, the disease will not be given to you. If you are going to have sex, the ways of preventing contracting the disease are the same as they are when you're trying to avoid getting other diseases. Herpes is most contagious when the lesions are present so during that time, partners should avoid sex. Other prevention methods are to use a condom each and every time you have sex, limit your number of sexual partners, and make sure you know the sexual history of everyone you have sex with. Communication that is open and honest between sexual partners is very important to avoid contracting this disease.

You can't cure genital herpes, although treatment to suppress the disease is available.HSV is prevalent all over the world. It affects even young children because it can be spread through skin-to-skin contact when an outbreak is occurring or when skin containing the virus is being shed. It is highly contagious and poor hygiene, crowded places, and birth in third world countries are all seen as places where contracting HSV is an issue.
