How Do You Know If You're A Fan Of A Sport
Sports has been a perennial part of our culture as human beings that is has been
around for as long as man slowly progressed into something more than just any other animal. We have several events that celebrate these games and the great athletes that make their respective sports so much greater than one would ever imagine.
But amidst all this talent, skill and sheer determination to win, sports wouldn't be where it would be now had it not been for us; the fans. We are the millions and possibly even billions of fans around the world who hold sports dearly in our hearts, that we cheer our hearts out and shout at the top of our lungs just to show our undying and unflinching support for those that we love.
1.When you have a favorite team you can root for
If you're new to a sport, like say basketball, it's not so difficult to see whether you're a fan of it or not. All it takes is just one team to win your heart over, and ultimately, that's how you became a fan of the sport.
When you know that you have a team to back, cheer and follow through the course of a season, you are definitely a fan. It doesn't take advanced calculus or rocket science to find that out; in fact, all it takes is just a simple observation or two.
You don't have to witness some once in a lifetime event to become a believer and supporter of a sport; it takes a lot less than that. More often times than not, it's the sport itself that gives the fans a reason to love the athletes that make it great.
2.When you tune in to a game and stick to it from start to finish
Most fans like to watch their favorite teams play against their opponents. Sure most of them would only tune in to the final minutes of a game or sometimes even the final play, but that's not going to do the sport any justice at all.
You know you're a full-fledged fan when you watch games from start to finish, and still you're craving for more. You'd be surprised to know how many people out there are like this and it's not just the coaches, his staff, or the sportscasters, it's regular, every day people that you meet out on the street.
3.If you are affected by the developments of a game; whether you cringe, celebrate, or simply sit there speechless
Sometimes, the emotions that one can experience from watching a game manifest itself in some surprising ways. You could either jump up and down in your living room or scream your lungs out at the stadium.
Developments in a game that could either lead to a victory or a loss affect the fans just the same as it would affect the players in the teams playing. So whether it's a buzzer beater shot or a game-winning touchdown, you're sure to know that you're a fan if you sit there in agony, silence, or anticipation to find out which team is really going to win.
