How Does A Network Server Works?

A Server is a computer or device on a network that manages network resources

. Network servers are computers or software applications that coordinate the tasks for a group of computers. This group is composed of client computers that are assigned to different sectors of the network by the server computer such as printing, faxing and e-mailing.

Network servers use communication ports to assign client computers to devices. This will create a communication between the two and is usually done through Local Area Network (LAN) in a business office setting. Specific network servers handle different assignment tasks. Device assignments can be sorted and rearranged, according to whatever needs a business may have. One additional benefit to this type of setup is it provides a security measure in terms of who can and cannot access a particular device or feature within the network.

There are a lot of types of servers available such as application servers which is also known as a type of middleware, application servers occupy a large chunk of computing territory between database servers and the end user, and they often connect the two. This middleware is software that connects two separate applications.

There are also video and audio servers, chat server, fax, e-mail, proxy and the Web server. There are many providers now in the market that offers these types of server. One example is the famous dell which provides state of the art dell servers. Dell server varied from tower style to blade servers. They also have the rack mount dell server.

Besides potentially running one or many services, a server could also be a computer that is used without any other computers, and does regular computer stuff at the same time. This increases productivity and efficiency while decreasing the over all cost. This is the very reason why many businesses are now turning into network server services.
