How Have Bridal Gowns Changed Over The Years? by:Lynn Brown
If the early seventies saw long, frilled wedding gowns
, the dawn of the new millennium has seen a new style taking precedence. In today's age of no-frills everything, expect the wedding gowns to resemble the theme of today. Jewelry no longer holds the only thing to be focused on, although people still will tend to spend some time shopping for unique gifts and charms to commemorate the special day.
Bridal gowns are for all - the rich and for the ones who don't have money. While people who have fat wallets like to splurge on designer gowns, the less affluent like to go for budget gowns. It must be said though that universally, almost all brides want their bridal gowns to be out-of-the-world, yet be something that matches the theme of the day.
Turning the clock back, one can't help but imagine how weddings would have been in the early seventies or even earlier. Surely, by then, the entire focus of the guests would have been on the bridal gown. Not that it has changed much today, and in fact, if anything, people tend to look at bridal gowns from a style perspective. This is slightly different from all the previous year's bridal gowns as then, people used to look at bridal gowns from a match and fit perspective.
Good bridal charm gifts complimenting the bridal gowns have been something that has just come into vogue off late. You would have been ridiculed if you spoke about charms like TCharm couple decades ago. With a lot of emphasis on bridal gowns being treated as a style statement more than anything, you will find brides today willing to spend the extra buck to get their bridal gowns designed.
The type of fabric used in designing the bridal gowns is also becoming the talking point of the day. Some years back, brides just did not mind the type of fabric the bridal gowns were designed. More than being style conscious, nowadays brides wish to be increasingly comfortable when they take the walk down the isles. And why not! After all, it is their wedding, and they have all the rights to demand some extra comfort in their wedding gowns.
Finally, it must be said that the Internet revolution has changed most of what you see of bridal gowns today. While in earlier days, people had to go to shopping malls and clothing stores to buy bridal gowns, a lot of this has been done now on the Internet. Plenty of websites that sell and promote wedding gowns and inspirational charms along with jewelry are making waves. Would you believe that you could even have your own wedding gowns to be designed in some websites? Sounds strange, but some websites do offer this facility.
Bridal gowns have changed, and over the years, they have changed for good. Style was never a question with these gowns, but over the years, with designers adding a lot of flavor and comfort to these gowns, surely they are worth admiring ten times more than earlier.
