Some companies use machines for the above processes, while others still use traditional methods. After the cigars are wrapped, they are classified by their strength, which is based on the tobacco used. You will find classifications of cigars that are mild, medium, and full-bodied. They are also classified by their size, which is determined by length and ring gauge or diameter.

Next, they are classified and separated according to color. The companies want to make sure that the cigar boxes only have cigars of the same color in them. You will discover many different shades through which the manufacturer must sort to ensure that the cigars in the boxes all look identical.

Something that you should take into account is that it takes much longer to hand roll a cigar than it does to use a machine. This is the reason that hand rolled premium cigars often cost much more than a cigar of comparable size that was rolled by a machine.
