How Is The Laser Used During Liposuction To Remove Fat From The Body?

The laser abilities available to cosmetic surgeons today allows them to target the

fatty cells of the body using a focused amount of heat to melt the fatty cells in order to remove them. Standard procedures require larger incisions and extreme amounts of pressure to loosen the fatty cells enough to remove them. When used correctly the laser is a safe and easy way to liquefy fatty tissue in order to remove it.

The laser makes the recovery process for liposuction a much easier process as well. Only small incisions are required to extract the melted fatty tissues from the body. It is the manual loosening of the fatty tissue during liposuction that caused so much bruising and soreness after the surgery. The laser provides for much less bruising and soreness.

The surgeon is able to use a local anesthetic because of the use of the laser capabilities. The local anesthetic makes it possible to numb only the area being worked on. This means that the patient is not out completely under a general anesthetic but rather the desired area for fat reduction is locally numbed and operated on. Most patients will be able to recover from the procedure in within a few hours. The out patient operation is a positive situation for both the doctor and the patent in this case.

Because the laser recovery can be so quick it is sometimes called SmartLipo. This allows patients to return to their normal every day activities as soon as a day after the operation occurs. With general lipo procedures a patient could be in hospital recovery for a few days and then it takes weeks and months of recovery to fully heal.

Laser lipo will take time to heal but the stress and damage to the body is much less of an inconvenience.

Sometimes the small incisions made in order to extract the liquid fat from that body are bandaged up. However, many surgeons have found that leaving the incisions exposed allows additional fat to drain from the body. This also adds to a quicker recovery process, as the body tends to heal itself faster when it is exposed.

Laser liposuction is different for everyone. This means that the recovery time is also different for each individual patient. The incisions will need to be monitored for infection. Any time the body has been through dramatic change or trauma the procedures should be monitored with caution. In general the recovery time is only a few days and patients can be back to work the next day.
